My grandparents live in a farmhouse that dates back to 1911 and has been passed down generation to generation. They’ve had these huge framed Rembrandt paintings in their living room as long as I can remember. Today I finally learned the story behind the frames themselves. Years ago when my grandpa was cleaning out their attic, he found the frames along with a few other photographs (all dating back to the 1800s) — everyone’s long forgotten who these people are, but we’re assuming they must be relatives.  Since the portraits in the frames were damaged, my grandma replaced them with the Rembrandt prints and tucked the original inhabitants away in storage.
